Snake Zodiac: Si Years, Elements and Renewal

The Snake appears in Chinese vessels, zodiac figures and the White Snake story, with more than one cultural expression. Si identifies its branch, while Wood Snake and Metal Snake add the heavenly stem. Those distinctions give renewal and companionship wishes a clearer context.

More than a mysterious creature

The Met’s Snake exhibition brings together snakes on early bronze vessels, a smiling zodiac figure and porcelain showing the White Snake story. The image can be formal, playful or emotionally familiar rather than only fearful.

Calm attention and intelligence are common cultural associations that can accompany a wish for clarity or renewal. They do not assign one personality to every Snake-year person. Folklore, the living animal and a personal BaZi chart address different subjects.

Snake years and their heavenly stems

The table indexes Gregorian years in which lunar Snake years begin. Folk zodiac reckoning changes at Lunar New Year, so a January or February date may still belong to the previous animal year.

The year 2025 Yi-Si is Wood Snake, 2001 Xin-Si Metal Snake, 2013 Gui-Si Water Snake and 2037 Ding-Si Fire Snake. The element labels follow the stem, alongside Si’s traditional Fire association. They are not Na Yin or a direct favorable-element conclusion.

Wood Snake and Si Fire can both be correct

Yi is Wood and Si is Fire, explaining why both descriptions can occur for Yi-Si. Xin-Si similarly contains a Metal stem with the Fire-associated branch. Reducing the year to one element loses the Day Master, season and other chart relationships.

The complete cycle matters more than a year’s final digits. For example, 1937 is an Ox year, while 2037 is Ding-Si Snake. Si returns after twelve years; the same stem–branch combination returns after sixty.

Quiet reflection, affinity or protection can guide a bead intention without requiring every Snake design to be red. The personal energy pattern, favorable elements and luck cycles give color and materials a more specific birth-chart context.

Snake–Monkey harmony within a larger pattern

Si–Shen is the Snake–Monkey six-harmony pair, Si–You–Chou the Snake–Rooster–Ox group, and Si–Hai the Snake–Pig clash. San Ming Tong Hui also discusses interactions in which harmony and other relationships coexist, showing the limits of a simple matching list.

A harmony pair does not remove the need to work on a relationship, and a clash does not decide that a marriage will fail. Other pillars and actual trust, agreements and communication remain relevant.

For 2027, Ding and Wei need to be understood as stem and branch. It is not the Snake’s own animal year, and the word Fire alone cannot give every Snake-year person the same annual experience. The annual page explains the particular traditional framework.

A Snake-year wedding and a Snake-year birth

Marrying in a Snake year describes the wedding date; being a Snake describes a birth year. They are different questions. Family schedules, season and shared meaning can shape a preferred date, while a personal traditional selection requires both partners’ birth information and actual options.

HKO records Li Chun 2027 at February 4, 09:46, and Lunar New Year on February 6, in Hong Kong time, UTC+8. Folk zodiac years commonly use the latter, while BaZi year pillars commonly use the former. A birth near the transition needs more than a Gregorian-year list.

Keep original local time and birthplace for an overseas record before interpreting its calendar. Existing bracelets provide actual affinity, learning and protection themes rather than implying a stocked Snake-shaped accessory.

A gift may wish for an orderly new chapter, a lasting connection or a personal renewal. A clear intention and a composition someone enjoys wearing bring the cultural story into everyday life.

Questions & answers

Why is 2025 Wood Snake when Si is Fire?

Wood comes from Yi and Fire from Si. They describe different parts of the year name, not the whole personal chart.

When is the next Snake year?

After 2025 comes 2037 Ding-Si, with a Fire stem. Its folk animal year begins at Lunar New Year.

Can someone marry in a Snake year?

The year’s animal alone cannot decide this for every couple. Personal wishes, practical arrangements and any chosen traditional method need specific consideration.

Does Snake–Monkey harmony mean no disagreements?

No. It is one traditional relationship within a fuller chart, while real companionship still requires care.
