Identify the question it answers
Calendar references help establish Gregorian dates, lunar dates and solar terms. Chart tools transform birth information into pillars and associated fields. Interpretation explains relationships within a method. These layers are connected, but an appearance of the word BaZi does not make every resource the same service.
For an early-year birthday or Chinese New Year date, an official calendar reference may be the clearest resource. For chart fields, look for a tool that explains its method. A discussion of favorable elements and real circumstances needs an interpretation that can account for context.
Different kinds of public resources
This comparison uses official public entry pages and documentation visible on October 13, 2026. It describes resource types and public information rather than logged-in functions, sample-chart accuracy or the quality of personal interpretation.

There is consequently no overall score or claim that an advertised feature has been personally tested. The useful choice depends on whether you need calendar evidence, a readable chart or technical research.

| Resource | Public information | Useful for | Consideration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hong Kong Observatory | Gregorian-lunar tables, solar terms and cyclical notation | Checking calendar concepts and dates | Calendar reference rather than a personal reading |
| Way Fengshui Bazi | Official tool entry with guest and account options | Exploring its stated chart-use route | Current interface explains the detailed inputs and scope |
| Joey Yap Bazi | Official entry requires a JY account to plot a chart | Users already following that system or holding an account | Detailed account functions require current documentation |
| 6tail lunar-python | Public code and calendar/BaZi interface documentation | Developers and researchers examining fields | A software library requiring technical use |
Time settings matter more than chart colors
The input should make the calendar, lunar leap month where relevant and known or unknown hour clear. Overseas birth details also involve historical time zones and daylight saving. A fixed UTC-offset field is not the same capability as handling historical rules by location.
Civil time, local mean solar time, apparent solar time and night-time day boundaries may affect results near transitions. If options are available, know which were selected. A simple interface does not by itself establish the rule you expected.
Compare the pillars and their inputs before comparing Ten Gods, percentages or symbolic stars. Different time assumptions can naturally lead to differences in later fields.
Unknown time and defaults
An unknown birth hour is best expressed explicitly, or as a known range. A default noon, midnight or another time is still only an input value. Leaving it in place can create a complete-looking Hour Pillar without a real birth-time basis.

An explanation of how the tool handles uncertainty is more useful than simply offering additional personality paragraphs. Displaying four pillars and handling an unknown hour appropriately are different capabilities.
More fields do not always mean more clarity
For a beginner, clearly labeled pillars and explanations of Day Master, hidden stems and Ten Gods may be more useful than a dense list of names. Percentages, scores and graphics need their counting method explained before they can be compared across tools.
English terminology also varies. Resource may correspond to Yin, and Output to Shi-Shang. A different translation does not necessarily imply different underlying pillars. Keeping Chinese characters alongside the translation can help continued study.
Save the input and time options with the output. A cropped Day Master label or one fortune paragraph does not retain enough context to understand how the result was obtained.
Accounts and personal use
Some resources are public references, others require accounts, and some serve technical research. Check what information is requested and whether you need saved chart history. A publicly shared chart can contain a name, birthday and birthplace.
Choosing a tool is not simply choosing the conclusion you most enjoy. Clear conventions and traceable inputs make a later discussion more useful. A bracelet composition can then relate favorable elements to your intention, material preferences and wearing specifications.
Questions & answers
Does being free make a tool inaccurate?
The price model does not establish calculation or interpretation quality. Look at the method, inputs and whether the output can be understood.
Which tool is always best?
Different resources serve different tasks. This page compares public capabilities and conditions rather than giving an untested universal ranking.
Should a third chart settle a disagreement by majority?
First compare dates, calendars, zones, time adjustments and day boundaries. Another result does not automatically resolve an input or method difference.
