The basic distinctions
BaZi works with the stems, branches and element relationships of four birth pillars. Saju means Four Pillars in Korean and shares that foundation. Zi Wei Dou Shu organizes a chart through palaces, named stars and related rules. A short personality card cannot represent every distinction between them.
This comparison concerns common structures rather than accuracy rankings. Actual readings also depend on schools, inputs and interpretation.

| Method | Main structure | Common terminology |
|---|---|---|
| BaZi / Zi Ping | Year, month, day and hour pairs | Day Master, Five Elements, Ten Gods, timing |
| Saju | Four Pillars in a Korean context | Yin-yang, Five Elements, stems and branches |
| Zi Wei Dou Shu | Twelve palaces and star arrangements | Life/Body Palaces, stars, transformations and periods |
BaZi centers on stem-and-branch relationships
BaZi represents birth information through four pillars and discusses the Day Master, season, hidden stems, Ten Gods and other relationships. The familiar birth-year animal is only one part of that arrangement.

For favorable-element questions, Ten Gods terminology or luck-pillar stages, BaZi supplies a particular language. The presence of the same five element names in another system does not mean its counting or interpretation rules are identical.
Saju shares the foundation but is more than translation
The Academy of Korean Studies’ entry explains Saju through the birth year, month, day and hour, showing its connection with the stem-and-branch tradition. It is not an additional fifth-pillar system or an unrelated method simply because the terms are Korean.
Readings can still reflect local teaching, schools and time conventions. When comparing Chinese BaZi and Korean Saju material, clarify the terminology, calendar and birth-time handling before comparing the interpretation. Different translated words may describe the same underlying relationship.
Brief automatic personality prose can make language style look like a technical method difference. The actual displayed pillars and their explanation provide a more useful comparison.
Palaces and stars in Zi Wei Dou Shu
Traditional Zi Wei texts organize the chart through palaces and named stars. Life Palace, Body Palace and the twelve palaces are familiar concepts, with star combinations, transformations and periods adding interpretive layers. This differs from the four-column BaZi arrangement.

Birth date, hour and calendar conventions still matter, including lunar dates, leap months and uncertain times. A setting used by one BaZi tool should not be assumed to apply identically to every Zi Wei system.
A BaZi Direct Officer label and a Zi Wei star are not one-to-one equivalents. You can compare the real-life topic being discussed while keeping the methods’ fields distinct.
Where Qi Men and Feng Shui fit
A brand may offer several traditions, which can make search results overlap. Qi Men commonly uses a nine-palace structure for time-and-space questions; Feng Shui involves environments, directions and spaces. These may share related concepts without being synonyms for BaZi.
A home-layout question may require a plan and orientation, a birth-chart question requires birth information, and a question tied to a particular moment needs its method explained. Identifying the object of the consultation makes the relevant information clearer.
Choosing a method for your question
If you have a method preference, name it. Otherwise, describe the career, relationship or life-stage question and find out which approach the service uses. Existing charts and their settings can help explain why results differ.
An explanation that sounds pleasant is not the only useful criterion. Clear inputs, understandable terminology and an appropriate scope offer more substance than combining several systems’ conclusions into one list.
The brand’s personal bead approach uses BaZi, the chart’s energy pattern and favorable elements. A reading from another tradition can be shared as background, while its terms should not be treated as identical material instructions.
Questions & answers
Is Saju only a zodiac horoscope?
Four Pillars include year, month, day and hour, while the zodiac animal usually concerns the year branch. Their information scope differs.
Is either BaZi or Zi Wei always more accurate?
There is no useful universal answer detached from the question, method and interpretation. This page compares structures and uses rather than presenting untested accuracy scores.
Can I bring charts from both systems?
Yes. Provide their information and time conventions, while keeping the methods identified separately rather than merging their terms without explanation.
